Notes from the WorldMark Board

On June 14, 2007, the WorldMark Board of Directors gathered for their regular quarterly meeting. The following minutes were recorded:

  • The board reviewed a report indicating the impact of extending the booking window for stays of less than seven nights in Red Season to 90 days (the previous window had been 60 days). This early report shows a 9% increase in the number of bookings 61–90 days from arrivals over the same period last year. Bonus Time usage remains consistent with last year. Early conclusions are that the guideline change will continue to benefit owners as the trend is to book shorter stays.
  • The board thanked the owners who served on the nomination committee, and decided upon 11 candidates for the three open director positions on the 2007 ballot.
  • The board agreed to place a proposed bylaw revision on the 2007 ballot which will increase the board of directors from five members to up to seven members. The initiative will require an affirmative vote of at least 25% of the voting power to pass.
  • The board agreed to place a proposed declaration change on the ballot addressing the pet policy. Frequent owner requests to allow pets at the resorts prompted the board to put the declaration revision on the ballot for owner vote. An affirmative vote of a majority of the voting power is necessary to pass. Specific verbiage will appear on the 2007 ballot (distributed to owners in August).
  • The board reviewed and discussed the qualifications of the owners interested in the advisory committee, noting that more than 125 owners applied for five positions.
  • Dorothy Lyon, WorldMark controller, indicated that Wyndham has negotiated a new insurance policy with enhanced coverage at significant savings to the club. The purchasing power of Wyndham allowed for decreased rates, significantly decreased deductibles, and increased coverage levels.
  • The board reviewed and commented on the revised pool, spa, and wading pool rules. It was noted that although some resorts may have different hours of usage, the basic safety rules should be common at WorldMark managed resorts.
