ODE TO MAUI
After composing a poem about her stay at WorldMark Seaside, owner Aileen Johnston was moved to share her experiences at WorldMark Kihei through another piece, titled "Ode to Maui." Read her reflections on Hawai‘i below, and her "Ode to Seaside" in April's edition of Destinations magazine.
"We’re off to Maui, across the ocean,
Thank God we brought our suntan lotion.
We’re there to relax and get some rest,
With 3 bedrooms at WorldMark we did our best.
We met Zack and Jeff at our owner presentation,
I upgraded to Platinum, without hesitation.
They showed us how to maximize our stay,
By using RCI points in places far away.
Six days in Kihei in the sun,
Boogie board riding was lots of fun.
We left some skin in the sand,
You’re supposed to jump off when you hit dry land.
Costco provided us with wonderful meals,
No island store had better deals.
Ménage à Trois was our favorite wine,
A blend of three grapes, which tasted just fine.
A Luau one night was our special treat,
Singing and dancing to a tropical beat.
We saw African penguins, and the biggest Koi;
Even tasted that dreadful Hawaiian poi.
We didn’t have much time to shop a lot,
But we discovered Serendipity, and there we bought
Cruising outfits and a marvelous black hat,
Which can be rolled in a ball and packed away flat.
But the best of the lot was our expedition,
To search out Christmas ornaments, as is our tradition,
We found angels and sea creatures, made by hand,
With patience and love; they’re the best in the land.
They were boxed and wrapped up beautifully,
It’s a pleasure to hang them on my Christmas tree.
Our trip to Hawai‘i held wonders galore,
So no doubt about it, we’ll be back for more."
