Popular Attractions

Iolani Palace
Nestled in downtown Honolulu’s Capitol District, ‘Iolani is the only royal palace ever to stand on American soil. The residence of King Kalakaua and his sister and successor, Queen Lili‘uokalani, the palace was built in 1882 and suffered much neglect after the fall of the monarchy. Since the 1970s it has been repeatedly refurbished and cared for with true aloha sentiment. This National Historic Landmark is a real testament to Hawai‘i’s former grandeur.

Diamond Head State Monument (Leahi)
This 760-foot tuff crater is one of Hawai‘i's most famous landmarks. Called Leahi (brow of the tuna) by ancient Hawaiians, it was named Diamond Head by 19th -century British sailors who thought they discovered diamonds on the craters slopes. These ‘diamonds’ were actually shiny calcite crystals that were, in fact, worthless. Today, Diamond Head is a popular hiking destination with panoramic views of Waikiki and O‘ahu’s south shore.

Pearl Harbor Historic Sites
Named for the pearl oysters once harvested there, Pearl Harbor is the largest natural harbor in Hawai‘i and the only naval base in the United States to be designated a National Historical Landmark. The devastating aerial attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 drove the United States into World War II and you can get the complete experience by visiting the multiple attractions including the USS Arizona, USS Missouri, USS Bowfin and the Pacific Aviation Museum.

North Shore
Stretching for more than 7 miles the big, glassy winter waves of this area attract the best surfers in the world. The winter months between November and February are the best times to watch the pros go to work against massive waves that swell up to 30 feet or more, but from May to September, the waves subside creating the perfect spots for swimming and sunbathing.

Sea Life Park by Dolphin Discovery
Sea Life Park Hawai'i offers Hawai‘i’s most diverse array of close-up marine animal encounters. Mingle nose-to-nose with the dolphins in a swim adventure, hand feed a sea lion, swim next to a ray in the Hawaiian Ray Encounter or play with a sea lion in the Sea Lion Discovery program.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
Staring out at the circular-shaped shore of Hanauma Bay on the southeast tip of O‘ahu, you can imagine how this beautiful bay was once a volcanic crater. Today, this crater, likely flooded by wave erosion, is the home of the island’s most popular snorkeling destination. With clear blue waters and lively reefs full of colorful fish, it’s no wonder this beach park is so famous.
