Kings Park and Botanic Garden
Situated just 1.5 km from the Central Business District of Perth (CBD) this park, with its remarkable expanses of unique bushland, tranquil parkland and botanic garden, is the most popular visitor destination in Western Australia and visited by over 5 million people each year.
The Perth Mint
The Perth Mint is one of the world's oldest mints still operating from its original premises and one of Western Australia's most historic buildings. It was established in 1899 as a branch of the British Royal Mint to refine gold from Western Australia's newly discovered gold fields and to strike gold sovereigns for the Empire. Behind the majestic wrought iron gates that were locked to the general public for more than 90 years it now unveils a wealth of treasures, including the spectacular Gold Pour and the chance to handle a 400 oz. pure gold bar.
Swan Valley Vineyards
The Swan Valley has a number of award-winning wineries, many of which are family owned and run. As Western Australia's oldest wine growing region, many vineyards are still owned by descendants of European emigrants. These wineries offer superb alfresco and restaurant meals as well as cellar door tastings and are open all year round.
The Perth Zoo
Just minutes from the city, this award-winning zoo is home to around 1,300 native and exotic animals from over 230 species, as well as world-famous breeding programs for critically endangered species. Take the Australian Bushwalk through re-creations of some of Australia's famous landscapes and ecosystems and encounter Australian wildlife species face-to-face.
